Our first experience in a cable car came to a halt 2 blocks after departure when the driver’s shift ended and he up and mysteriously left. Good thing too, because a one hour wait to board this car with three kids in tow was not taxing in the slightest. Thankfully, we had the good fortune to patiently bide our time by listening to the sounds of one idiosyncratic, ill-practiced trumpet-street-performer/homeless man/balloon animal maker. (who only made swords)

For some reason our older two boys did not share the excitement of participating in such a classic San Francisco experience. Perhaps they were hungry. In any case, it was an amusing treat to wait an additional 20 minutes for a new driver amongst the wall to wall tourists breathing upon our family full of crabby claustrophobics.

The things you have to do to raise your boys right–I’m sure people didn’t know whether to give you a blue ribbon or call social services. The narrative was fantastic–that’s the way SF can be…also the BW of S. is really cool–he looks a lot like Brad Davis in the classic 1978 movie Midnight Express–except Brad was smuggling hash and S. is smuggling Ronan. Love it love it love it.

What do you think?
